FIDGET

Fidget is the natural successor to my Explosions series. My anxieties and battle with depression are now depicted not only in these abstract lines and colors but also in the contorted, surreal, mangled forms of hands, taking on a life of their own as beastly monsters in a firery atmosphere. These massive creatures tangle, twist, pull in opposite directions, wrap around themselves, and wriggle around the page, attempting to find meaning and normality. They fidget, as I often find my own hands doing in moments of extreme stress and anxiety. They are visual representations of states of mind, bringing the mental into the physical realm for all to see. It’s all in my head? That may be true, but that doesn’t make it all any less real.
